The Centre has received advice from the Department of Sport and Rec that the grant application to upgrade the Centre’s lighting facilities was successful.
The grant included all new fittings on existing poles to meet international standard for night baseball!
This is a big breakthrough for the Centre and allows the removal of all existing wooden poles which have been in place for many years. While the new infrastructure will allow for “competition standard” lighting across all facilities.
Car Park & Tennis Courts
Pool Complex – new and upgraded lighting for the 50 metre and 25 metre outdoor pools which will mean we will be able to better accommodate water polo. The new lighting will be of sufficient quality to host night swimming competitions.
Netball – Completely replace all existing wooden poles and upgrade light fittings to allow competition standard lighting quality. The centre courts will need to be changed to run north / south rather than east / west.
Bowls Greens – New poles on the eastern end of the eastern green and upgraded fittings on all existing light poles.
Cricket / Athletics – 11 new 22 metre steel poles to replace all existing wooden poles with a lighting standard that will allow night athletics and cricket.
Baseball – All new fittings on existing poles to meet international standard for night baseball.
